Hirer FAQs

Q: Is NQSolicitors.com a Jobs Board?

No. NQSolicitors is a matching platform that allows you to view anonymous profiles and to make CV requests for candidates who match your vacancies at NQ to 4 PQE.

Your vacancies will not be advertised on the site and you will not be able to view CVs until candidates have authorised their release for a specific vacancy.

Q: How does the service work?

Final seat trainees and junior solicitors create an anonymous profile on the platform, which includes:

  1. details of their academic record and experience as a trainee / junior solicitor; and
  2. their work preferences in relation to location, salary, preferred department and the type of law firm they’d like to join.

Once their profile is live, it can be matched with your vacancy if:

  1. your vacancy matches their work preferences; and
  2. their academic record and experience to date meets your minimum criteria.

When a candidate’s profile is matched with your vacancy, you will be able to view their profile and request the release of their CV for that specific vacancy.

If the CV request is accepted by the candidate, NQSolicitors will forward their CV to you or upload it to your recruitment portal.

Once a candidate’s CV has been sent to you, NQSolicitors will act as an intermediary between the two parties and facilitate the hiring process as a recruitment consultant would normally do.

Q: When should we use the service?

You should use the service whenever you are looking to fill a vacancy at NQ to 4 PQE.

Additionally, you will benefit most from our reduced placement fee of 12.5% if you use the platform as your first port of call, and before reaching out to traditional agencies.

Q: How long will it take to register with the site and to run a search?

The initial registration process should take less than a minute, and you will be able to run a search of the database in less than five minutes.

Q: Can we just tell NQSolicitors.com what are vacancies are and let you get on with finding suitable matches and requesting CVs?

Yes. We’re more than happy to do the leg work, while still charging a placement fee of 12.5%.

For optimum results, however, it’s important that you make us aware of your vacancies as early as possible and before reaching out to traditional agencies.

Q: Is there a charge for registering with the site and running a search?

No. Registering with the site and running a search is free. We do not charge a subscription fee.

Q: What placement fee will NQSolicitors.com charge?

NQSolicitors will charge a placement fee of 12.5% of the candidate’s first year salary on a contingency basis. The fee will be invoiced on the candidate’s start date and payable within 30 days of the invoice date.

Q: Do your terms of business include a refund scheme?

Our standard terms do not include a refund scheme, but we are more than happy to discuss refund terms and understand that large law firms will want us to sign their specific recruitment terms.

Q: Are candidates charged a fee for registering with the site and creating a profile?

No. NQSolicitors is entirely free for candidates to use.

Q: Can multiple members of our recruitment team register with the site and run searches?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of users that can activate a hirer account on the platform. Several of our clients have multiple hirer accounts as different members of their recruitment teams recruit for separate practice areas or office locations.

Q: Will we be able to view CVs on the site?

No. Candidate CVs are not published online. You will only be able to view a CV once a candidate has authorised its release for a specific vacancy.

Q: Will NQSolicitors.com e-mail CVs to us, or will you upload it to our recruitment portal?

We will send CVs to you in whatever manner you require us to.

Q: Will we be matched with candidates who are currently either training with us, or working with the firm post qualification?

No. The platform is designed so that you will never be matched with a candidate who is currently working at your firm, either as a trainee or as a junior solicitor.

Q: Will we be able to identify candidates from their anonymous profiles?

No. Certain fields within candidate profiles, including the university they attended, their training firm and current firm will be presented as banded data rather than real data e.g. ‘Oxbridge’, ‘Russell Group’, ‘Magic Circle’ or ‘Top 100 UK Firm’.

Q: If we are running the searches ourselves, how broadly or narrowly should we set our candidate filters?

You can set your candidate filters to be as broad or as narrow as you wish. However, you should be aware that seemingly minor changes to your candidate filters can have a significant effect on the number of candidates you are matched with.

Q: What happens once a CV has been sent to us?

Once NQSolicitors has sent you a CV or uploaded it to your portal, we will act as a recruitment consultant in the traditional manner. We will contact you to request feedback and will continue to work with both parties throughout the hiring process.
